Dorothy "Dee" Headden Lewis Obituary

Dorothy "Dee" Headden Lewis passed away with her daughters by her side, at the age of 69 on February 23, 2024, in Holmdel. Born on May 12, 1954, in Red Bank, she was raised in Union Beach, and lived in Keyport, prior to moving to Keansburg in 1985.

Dee was pre-deceased by her parents, the late Edward and Ruth Headden, her two sons Keith D. Rice Jr. and David G. Headden and her daughter Keisha Ann Rice.

She is survived by her adoring husband, Dennis Lewis and the love for her children was unparalleled. She was a guiding light to her daughters, Pamela (Rice) Rosko and her son in-law Ali Rosko and Penny Headden, and (Jamal) and her son, Keith Manny (Sharonda) Mott.  Dee's legacy will continue to blossom through her beloved grandchildren, John, Tanayah, Milan, Ronnie, Treshaun,  Ali Jr. and, Aaliyah, her great-grandson Luka and her close family friends Elaine, Chrissy, and Jeremy, and a host of many siblings, nieces, nephews, and adopted grandchildren.

A dedicated worker, Dee spent many years as a packer for the South River distribution center for the Museum of Modern Art. She also was a medical assistant, providing care and comfort to those in need with a gentle touch and a reassuring smile.

Dee's interests were as colorful and varied as her personality. By creating beautiful pieces that she crocheted, that were as warm as her embraces. Her love for puppies was infectious and Dee was always in search of the next great shopping destination. The thrill of the game was a passion of hers, from spirited Bingo nights at St. Ann's and journeys to Connecticut, to scratching off lottery tickets in the hope of a lucky win.

Her home was a hub of activity, with the television often tuned to her favorite game shows, as she enjoyed her snacks. Big family dinners and birthday celebrations were the highlights of her year, where laughter filled the air and love was served in generous portions.

Above all, Dee cherished her family. Her grandchildren were the apples of her eye, and she reveled in their accomplishments and milestones. Each hug, each shared secret, each burst of laughter was a thread in the tapestry of memories they will hold dear.
